Esteemed parents,

As we approach the long holiday, we can look back on a very successful term and thank the Almighty God who has made it possible. Special thanks to you, our amiable parents for your continuous encouragement and support; we must also not fail to thank our staff members who have showed commitment and zest at ensuring that learners learn the way they ought to learn.

During the course of the term, students and staff have been involved in a wide range of events and activities and sincerely we have enjoyed and celebrated many successes of which some will be highlighted in this newsletter. The first was the award given to our school as “The Best Private School in Taraba State” by International and National Journalists from Etv. This award was earned after a thorough scrutiny of the school and other private schools in Taraba State.

We were also blessed by God that due to our performance in the NECO examination, our school was the only private school in Nigeria that was selected for the award meeting that took place in Minna, Niger State. After a hard work, we got a plague from Cambridge in the United Kingdom endorsing our school as the only recognized Cambridge Early Years School in the whole of North-Eastern Nigeria. All these accolades are a testament to the fact that your support as parents and the efforts of the school is gradually paying off not just within our country but internationally.

EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION SCHOOL

To see our reception learners transit to Year 1 was a moment filled with nostalgia while we are so proud of the achievements and the milestone that they have recorded, we reflect on the beautiful times we have had with them in the Early Years Foundation School.

During the term, our learners were exposed to the maiden edition of “Spelling Bee for Reception learners”. As a learning to read school, the programme was introduced to challenge the learners and to see the extent of their mastery of words. It was an electrifying moment as the learners were made to spell words that were beyond their age bracket. For example words like impromptu, invisible, electricity, telephone, etc. were given to the learners to spell and at the end, a super speller by name Falade Asher Akintayo emerged. We also had the maiden edition of our “Read a-thon” programme. We are grateful to the parents who graced the occasion and meaningfully engaged the learners. Our learners also took time to engage themselves in various outdoor activities under the supervision of teachers. They also expressed and exercised their sensory motor skills on the trampoline and also during sporting activities.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

As a school interested in the career path of learners, we worked at instilling in them skills like resilience, critical thinking, problem solving, time management and public speaking skills. This was very obvious during our Year 5 Project Defense that took place on 8th July, 2024. The learners were given topics from Science to Humanities to write on. We want to thank parents who supported them in their research work and also helped to prepare them for the defence. It was a wonderful time we had seeing the learners individually display oratory skills and the use of multi-media to defend their projects. At the end, Julius Kodiya emerged winner for this year’s project defence.

Learners in the primary school were also engaged in Do-It-Yourself (DIY) practical activities this term especially in ICT and Design and Tech. Prefects in the primary school were also selected this term. The Head Boy is Jayden Andenira and the Deputy Head Boy is Modibo Mohammed. The Head Girl is Maryam David while Alice Uko emerged as Deputy Head Girl.

SECONDARY SCHOOL

So many new skill driven programmes were put in place by our teachers to facilitate the teaching-learning process. The outcome of this was seen in our last result where various class averages and individual student averages improved. We also improved tremendously on our science hands-on and practical classes this term. As a school, we continued the Pre-SS1 class for our learners who finished the NECO-BECE examination so as to expose them to the subjects they will meet in SS1 and as a school we opted to introduce them to these subjects rather than the learners sitting at home after their NECO BECE that ended in June.

As a way to improve the learners’ affective domain, the counselling department has been working with the learners to ensure that their affective domain is properly developed. Prefects for the 2024/2025 academic session were given their badges after a thorough selection process. The name of the Head Boy is Simon Obidah and the Deputy Head Boy is Tijjani Jubril Ayomide. The name of the Head Girl is Retplang Praise Amos and the Deputy Head Girl is Summaiya Abdulkareem. Their parents and other well-wishers congratulated them for their new positions.

PTA MEETING

We had a P.T.A congress this term. We want to thank parents who carved out time to grace the occasion. Issues relating to school growth and learners welfare were discussed. We are optimistic that this beautiful relationship between parents and the school will continue to yield positive outcomes as we have started to see as a school less complaints from the home front and more of learners being enthusiastic about learning.

The congress ended with an election after the ongoing P.T.A Chairman has served his two tenures of 2 years each. The new P.T.A Chairman is in person of Engr. Shiaki and we wish him well in his tenure as the P.T.A Chairman.

HONOUR ROLL

After so much preparation and encouragement and support from staff and parents, we had an epoch making Honour Roll event with the theme “Lista para volar (Ready to soar)”. Learners, parents and royal fathers graced the occasion that saw many learners carting away with awards and prizes. We are optimistic that the event has encouraged other learners to strive to get a gift next year.

HOSTEL

As discussed in previous newsletters, we have worked with and are still working with different security outfits and have installed CCTV cameras in and around the school to ensure the safety of both staff and students in our environment. We have also installed solar panel to provide the learners with 24 hours light so that their learning proficiency will be greatly enhanced. It is important to let parents know that the school management pays keen interest about the welfare of the boarders and our regular Sunday meetings with them has helped us to greatly solve some of the problems raised.

OTHER ISSUES

  1. We want to thank parents who brought in gifts and other items during our summer bounce. You simply made our day as the learners had fun sharing with their mates and teachers.

  1. As a school, we are making it compulsory for learners in Reception class, Year 4, Year 9 and Year 12 to attend the August summer school tagged “Summer School Extra”. The summer school promises to give an extra touch to other summer school that we have had.

ADMISSION

We have had two entrance examinations in the school for prospective learners and the outcome has been very encouraging. The next examination will be coming up daily in August. Admission forms are still on sale in the school.

SCHOOL FEES

While we thank all those who cleared up their fees this term we would appreciate that all fees for Autumn Term (1st term) should be paid on or before resumption as this will help us meet our financial commitments. Parents who opted for a payment plan should please meet their commitments as stated in the plan if they have not done so.
